2022 Fashion Show was all about our Youth!

All, News, Thank You
Josiah, THRU Project Youth rollerblades at THRU Project Fashion Show

THRU Project’s 2nd Annual THRU to SUCCESS Fashion Show event on April 28th, 2022 was another grand success!

Held under the high-fashion lighting of the gorgeous showroom at Lighting Inc., our venue sponsor, this night was more about functional fashion for our former foster youth. Overall, our goal with this event was to raise awareness of the many struggles our youth face after aging out of the Texas Foster Care System. Areas like employment, education, and perhaps most critical, homelessness.

The fashion show featured 10 models on the catwalk, all are former foster youth currently in THRU Project. They modeled outfits which reflected their own personal career aspirations like best-selling author, dental assistant, construction, CEO, and we even had a figure skater!

The youth’s outfits were sourced from the clothing closets of two new THRU Project partners: Christian Assistance Ministry and Hill Country Family Services. Friends of THRU Project sponsored each youth to purchase any “extras” to complete their outfit for the fashion show or for any critical needs that would help them in their existing job.

On the afternoon of our big night, all of our youth models were invited to have their hair and makeup professionally done by The Salon Professional Academy of San Antonio. We cannot thank The Academy enough because no expense was spared to make these models feel special. A couple of our youth even had their hair professionally colored and cut!

After being treated to a special lunch by THRU Project Staff and a stretch limo ride, sponsored by Solid Realty Group, it was clear that our youth models felt sassy and strong as they arrived, in-style and stylin’, to the event venue.

We are so thankful to all who came out to support us that night, especially on a Thursday after a long day of work. The delicious menu was sponsored by Scuzzi’s Italian Restaurant on 1604, cocktails were donated by Ranger Creek Brewing and Distilling, and the delectable dessert table was sponsored by The Bread Box.

Thank you to all of our event sponsors as well as our in-kind sponsors and volunteers for making this a night to remember for our youth and our supporters … the proof is in the pictures, which were donated so graciously by Glass Lake Media.

These are just a few of the images from our 2022 Fashion Show. To view the entire album, please click here. Feel free to download and save any images … and share our mission with others!
