THRU Project Next Step Housing Program

THRU Project can now offer foster teens and former foster youth
a way to learn & grow while offering secure housing!

Our Next Step Housing Program allows youth to live in their own apartment with the security of a support system and a life-skills education, preparing them for successful independence.

Please note: this housing application is for Next Step Housing Program. If you’re interested in Supervised Independent Living (SIL) or our Next Step: College Program, please click on the links to learn about eligibility and how to apply.

Our Next Step Housing Program Application is currently closed until 2023.

Requirements & Selection

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Actively participating in the THRU Project program(s) 3 months (or longer)
  • Employed (working full or part-time)
  • Submission of Housing Application with Resume & Essay portion
  • Complete full Casey Assessment
  • Agree to a Background Check (background check does not need to be clean)
  • Attend Apartment 101 Workshop
  • Recommendation from your THRU Project mentor and/or Staff
  • Interview with Program Outreach Coordinators

Once Accepted

  • Schedule & Meet (in-person) monthly, with a Program Outreach Coordinator (in Home)
  • Deposit required amount each month into THRU Project savings account while in program housing
  • Attend all required life skills classes throughout the year
  • Remain Employed
  • Continue visits with your mentor at least once a month in person

Please Note

No guests will be allowed to stay overnight or alone at any time in program housing apartment
No alcohol, no drugs, and no firearms are allowed in program housing apartment at any time, regardless of age.
THRU Project staff will be allowed to enter your apartment at any time, even if you are not there.
