We invite you to the second annual THRU to Success Fashion Show to raise funds (and awareness) to help ease the obstacles that young adults face when they exit foster care.
For youth who age out of foster care, there are many obstacles to success. Some may seem small to us like having the proper attire for work or for a job interview. Every year in our community, hundreds of 18-year old’s exit foster care without anything but the clothes on their backs. Getting a job or keeping a job just so they can afford to keep a roof over their heads is a daily struggle.
We, as a community, can help “Light the Way THRU to Success!”
THRU to SUCCESS: Part 1
CITYWIDE CLOTHING DONATION DRIVE
Our THRU to Success event kicks off with a citywide clothing donation drive on March 1st and runs until April 15th. This year, our beneficiary for the donated clothing will be CAM – Christian Assistance Ministry, which serves the unsheltered, street homeless of San Antonio.
Homelessness is a real struggle for former foster youth, which is where we find some overlap in the missions of THRU Project and CAM.
THRU to SUCCESS: Part 2
THE FASHION SHOW
The fashion show event will be held again this year against the brilliant backdrop of the gorgeous Lighting Inc. showroom. Our models are actual youth from THRU Project, strutting the catwalk following an afternoon of hair and makeup, clothes fittings, and professional headshots. We aim to give them a day they’ll never forget!
Join us for signature whiskey cocktails and handcrafted beer from Ranger Creek Brewing & Distilling and appetizers from Scuzzi’s Italian Restaurant, both businesses are back again helping former foster youth. Get your tickets now, this event SOLD OUT last year!
