The THRU Project endeavors to provide Adult Advisors for our youth population aging out of the Foster Care System. But, what sorts of things does an Advisor do, in real life, with the youth they serve. This snapshot of a moment in the life of Advisor, Steve Hartle, captures not only the joy of a single encounter, but also a blossoming relationship.
Pictured, here, is our THRU Project Executive Director, Elaine Hartle, as she and Steve enjoy lunch with Steve's Foster Youth Advisee. Elaine and Steve have both attended THRU Project Advisor training and passed our background screenings to ensure the safety of our youth population. Steve has recently been paired with River, seen here, and has wonderful things to say about this young man.
Steve shares with us that he and River have been paired and are currently working on driving lessons. Steve says that he learns as much from his interactions with River as he imparts. According to Steve, he has been captivated by River's knowledge of science and his desire to study molecular disease cures. River has already accumulated some college credits and is working in the restaurant business, currently, hoping to save money to further his studies.
Advisors play a key role in the life of a young person on the verge of adulthood. If your heart is open to supporting a Foster Youth aging out of the Foster Care System, please consider attending our upcoming Advisor training session to be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM, in the Unity Heights building located at 8103 Broadway #210, San Antonio, TX 78209.
