THRU Project BRIDGES THE GAP
between foster care & adulthood
Every year an estimated 20,000+ youth age out of the foster care system in the United States.
In San Antonio-Region 8, approximately 220 youth emancipated from state
care in 2018.
Of those youth, the average stay in care was nearly 4 years with an average of almost
7 different placements during their time in the system.
With so much upheaval and uncertainty in the lives of these youth, it’s easy to identify the obstacles to success.
Lack of a strong supportive network
Gaps in learning crucial life skills in childhood
Our Services & Programs support our mission of providing foster youth support, guidance, and advocacy.
30% of our youth have been matched with their mentor for at least 1 year!
68% of THRU Youth 18 & over are employed.
95% of THRU Youth are either currently enrolled in school, graduated or received their GED!
THRU Project Mentors have spent more than 1100 hours with their youth.
The THRU Project Next Step Housing Program graduates have collectively saved over $22,000 and are living independently because of the stability and support you gave them.
Together we are changing lives. With you, we have helped:
